I’ve been using Class Dojo in my classroom since the beginning of the school year and I absolutely love it!  My students have responded very well to it, and I’m confident in my decision to toss out my clip chart.
While searching online for resources that go along with Class Dojo I found the BEST thing since sliced bread!  Going Strong in 2nd Grade has done an awesome job creating a resource that provides everything you need to go along with Class Dojo!
I was so excited about getting started today using our Dojo Freedom  Cards, but then as the true first grade teacher I am I got sick!  Nonetheless, we will be starting tomorrow.
I have my cards ready, points totaled, and my dojo store up and ready to roll.  I will provide an update the end of the week to let you know how Week 1 without a clip chart went!  Thanks for reading!
Plan on using Dojo in your class?  Here’s a free resource to help you out!

So, I've decided to use folders for just about everything in my classroom this year!  My kids have homework folders, parent communication folders, test paper folders, and sight word folders.  They also have Data binders/folders (if they didn't bring a binder).  I've created some cute covers to go with my folders and I've put them for sale in my TPT store.  Check it out here Folder Covers!

My Class This Year

This year seems like it's going to be a tough one.  I'm going into my third year as a first grade teacher, and I was given all of the first grade SPED kids.  I have one little girl that is ADHD, has behavior issues, and some other things.  There's four of them total in my class.  I have maybe five pretty strong students and the rest are weak.  There's maybe 2 that are on the first grade level.  I feel like I have my work cut out for me this year, but I'm definitely up for the challenge.

I was supposed to be incorporating the daily 5 into my school day this year, but I'm thinking it will be modified a lot to fit the needs of my babies this year.  I also wanted to include WBT this year, I was being oh so very ambitious!  We've incorporated the rules, class/yes, and teach okay.  I hope to introduce the scoreboard and the super improver wall this week.

We also have a math program that's not very challenging for kids, and I'm searching for ways to supplement it.  Any advice about any of the challenges I'm facing this year?  I'd love to hear it.

Ikea

I took a trip to Texas this past weekend just to go to Ikea.  I can't believe there's not one Ikea in Louisiana.  I loved it, but my mom and brother not so much!  Thanks mom again for buying the things I wanted!  (I'm a little spoiled)
MARIUS Stool IKEA The stool can be stacked, so you can keep several on hand and store them in the same space as one. I purchased 6 of these at $4.99 each for my small group table, that I will be painting.

TOLSBY Frame for 2 pictures IKEA You can display one picture on each side as the frame has no back panel. I purchased 5 of these for $.99, which I will also paint.
FLYT Magazine file IKEAI purchased 2 packs of these for $1.99 each.  I don't know what I'm using these for yet.
ULLGUMP Rug, low pile IKEA Durable, stain resistant and easy to care for since the rug is made of synthetic fibers. This rug for $19.99.

The final results of the stools and frames will be in my classroom reveal post, so stay tuned for that!
Here are some pics of us at Ikea!

Welcome

I'm loving my new blog design!  Kristen from Chalk and Apples did an awesome job.  I am new at blogging, so bear with me.  I am hopefully going to start both Whole Brian Teaching and the Daily 5 in my classroom this year, so I'll be posting a lot on those two subjects.  Thanks so much for stopping by and I look forward to writing great posts for you to read!
